Our 5th Annual Retreat is scheduled for October 28th, 2017

We know you will want to know about our 5th Annual Fall Retreat on Saturday, 28 October 2017.  Doors will open at Noon with the 1st session beginning at 1 pm.

Father David Smith, will be speaking on the JESUS PRAYER.  At Colgate University he teaches a course on the prayer.

There will be time to ask Father questions concerning the prayer as well as time devoted to the actual practice of the prayer.

At 2:30 pm a meal catered by Hong Ping restaurant will be served.

The 2nd session will begin promptly at 3:30 pm.

The retreat will conclude with Great Vespers at 5 pm.

Cost of the retreat is $30 payable at the door, Registration must be completed by October 23, 2017.

Father David Smith

Fr. David Smith is a graduate of Fayetteville Manlius high school, Drew University (BA), Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div), and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (D.Min).

He has been a priest for 27 years and has served churches in London Ontario, Utica New York, and Syracuse New York.

He was our priest here at Holy Transfiguration from 1991 – 1997.

Fr. David is the author of three books:

Mary, Worthy of all Praise (2003 Ancient Faith Publishing)

Christianity and Pleasure (2008 Regina Orthodox Press)

Help, I’m Bored in Church (2014 Ancient Faith Publishing).

Father David is also the host of a popular YouTube program called “Tradition Today” (on the “Fr. David Smith” channel).

He and his wife Donna live in Dewitt, New York, and are the parents of four children, Caleb, 29 (married to Tanja), Jesse, 27, Ana, 26 (married to Shaun), and Lucy, 25 (engaged to Ryan, wedding in August 2018).
